sunday night rewind

You know when somthing just “feels right?”  You can’t put your finger on it, you can’t articulate your reasons, but you know its right.  This is the feeling I have every Sunday morning at 6am when I walk through the doors of Regal Cinemas at Waterford Lakes.  I smell the popcorn, I see the overnight cleaning crew hard at work, I see the movie posters  – and I think, “This is C3.”  Don’t get me wrong, I know we’re not defined by where we meet or our environment, but environment is important.  And to think that for a few hours on Sunday morning this cultural centerpiece is being used to help transform lives – it’s amazing.

This morning we cont’d the Losing My Religion series with “Stop Pointing At Me,” focused on John 8:2-11.  Here were my takeaways:

  •  We all have memories of being singled out and “pointed at” because we didn’t measure up – religion has excelled in creating “pointers.”
  • Religion will go to great lengths to point out your faults (like breaking into a house to catch an adulterer.)
  • Jesus will go to great lengths to point you a new direction. (vs. 11)
  • Jesus isn’t soft on sin, but is compassionate with people.
  • What stones do you need to put down? (see Brittney Spears, OJ Simpson, etc.)

Our move to Theater 10 went great.  We have 200 extra seats per service – so invest and invite!
