sunday night rewind
When we decided to make the move to Regal Cinemas, I was excited about the prospect of meeting in a theater, but I had no idea what to expect. The primary reason for the initial excitement had more to do with leaving an environment that didn’t suit C3. But now having experienced three weeks in the theater (today being our official launch) it is has been the perfect environment.
Now on to today’s service. I’m not exaggerating when I say this morning was the best service I ever attended – not because:
- We filled every last seat in our 10:30 service.
- Except for Christmas and Easter, we had the largest % single week jump in attendance since I’ve been on staff.
- We had 4 real stone statues on the platform that weighed about 450lbs a piece. (I was conveniently absent when it was time to move those bad boys.)
- The band did an awesome job covering “Losing My Religion”
- We closed the service singing “Jesus Paid it All” to this video.
- We were walking out of the theater by 12:03pm – our best time yet (Way to go “Crew”)
- We gave all of our volunteers movie tickets.
But because I, and many others there, heard a message that we all needed as Byron opened “Losing My Religion.” I desperately needed to be reminded that:
- That God’s love is not earned, but received.
- Religion has no answers for you when you’re on the “cold, hard metal tables of life.”
- Religion is born out of fear, faith is born out of love.
- Religion leads to pride, a relationship with Jesus leads to humble, confident joy.
- When was the last time you met a happy religious person?
It was obvious that many of you have taken the C3N30 challenge to heart evidenced by our attendance. We’re very close to having a solution that will add significant space on Sunday mornings, so keep investing and inviting.
