change of scenery

My wife and I just finished painting and redecorating our bedroom. I was more involved in the painting – not so much the redecorating. But it looks great! We’ve moved all the furniture around, changed the color scheme, and added a few elements. It’s a totally different experience when you walk in. And that’s a good thing.

We all need a change of scenery from time to time. Keeping ourselves in the same environment, same relationships, same routine can have adverse effects on our ability to truly follow Christ. If there’s a recurring theme in the Scriptures it’s GO. God seems to always be leading people into something new. Whether it was Noah onto the arc, Abraham packing up his family, Moses leading the charge out of Egypt, Jesus leading his disciples all over the middle east, or his final instructions to GO into all the world, there was always the message of GO.

Don’t get stuck in your routines, don’t get comfortable with your environment, don’t get complacent in your relationships – God is leading you somewhere, and it’s somewhere you haven’t been before. He likes a change in scenery.
